About In Sabina
In Sabina, an elegant and breathtaking retreat centre in the heart of the Sabine Hills, offers spectacular views and a magical setting. Less than an hour north of Rome near Umbria, In Sabina lies in the midst of the untouched Italian country side.
The property is peaceful and rustic, offering a haven for spiritual practice, relaxation and rejuvenation. A magnificent yoga platform sits in the valley, surrounded by verdant nature and wildlife, with a natural spring and lily pond nearby. The grounds are lush and abundant with lovely gardens and a swimming pool. There are two lovingly restored 17th-century stone buildings that overlook an undulating panorama of olive groves and fruit trees. There are three terraces where you can relax and watch the stunning sunsets.
The daily programme
The morning begins with a tranformational pranayama and posture class with Marc, held outdoors on the magnificent wooden yoga platform overlooking the lush valley. This sets the Theme for the day.
Late morning, Marc runs a workshop on the Theme - a deepening investigation into the most harmonious relationships of the body in movement and support, with the intent of covering all bases and fundamental principles over the course of the week. Late morning workshops are interactive and tailored specifically to the needs and interests of the group.
Afternoon sessions will be run by Abigail Peck and will involve a restorative and relaxing review of the postures and Themes of the day, with plenty of room for Q & A.
Mid-week, Diane Long (Vanda Scaravelli's most long-term direct student, and one of Marc's most significant teachers) will also be there to share her inimitable approach to the work.
In Sabina also offers a serene and tranquil indoor yoga space with views over the hills and vales which is also used for meditation, chanting and treatments.
Three delicious Italian-vegetarian meals will be served daily. On one evening, there will be dinner out at a local restaurant.
Also, there will be one afternoon off from the yoga for day-trips ~ you might want to visit Umbria or to explore the culturally rich hill town of Orvieto.
We also have a limited number of non-participating places set-aside for those of you with partners that would like to come without taking part in the yoga (cost is for food & accommodation only - subject to availability).
Other things to do
You could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rejuvenation at In Sabina. The property and grounds are beautifully designed to reflect the natural environment, making this a unique place to recharge and immerse yourself in nature.
Relaxing by the swimming pool, having a massage treatment, a good book in a secluded spot, or a walk or two through the stunning local nature. There are nice walks from the house and even better ones just a short drive away.
The area is rich in sites of historic and natural beauty. Only 10 minutes away, the charming medieval hilltop village of Casperia is a favourite haunt for In Sabina groups for a group meal out.
There is also the culturally rich hill town of Orvieto, just an hour away...
The exquisitely restored 17th century stone buildings have been converted into accommodation and overlook a panorama of olive groves and fruit trees. The rooms are designed in a simple, natural style, with a combination of new and antique furnishings. Four of the bedrooms are ensuite, the other rooms share a bathroom between two rooms.
All accommodation is shared between two or three people with very limited availability for single occupancy.
Single and double yurt accommodation is also available. There are 3 yurts close to the pool area with an outdoor shower and shared bathroom facility.
