About the Yoga...
Daily Yoga practice will bring many health benefits on both a physical and emotional level. Yoga teaches us to use our bodies as a way of discovering our true selves ... to become our own authority and discover the nature of reality by direct experience. Achievement of asana by itself is not the point - it is achievment of support without conflict that reeducates the human being into a new paradigm.
On an emotional level a daily Yoga practice quietens the mind and brings clarity to awarness. Through facing our difficulties with equanimity, we get to become familiar with our habits and tendencies in the mind as well as the body, so we begin to recognise behaviours and responses that may not be serving our higher interests. In the recognition, we get a chance to change. Practicing Yoga is an enquiry into the very nature of our being. And the discoveries we make can serve us in our relationships with others as well as improving the quality of our own lives.
The program on these events is designed to give you a direct experience of a range of beneficial yoga practices, and is appropriate for anyone wishing to develop depth in their yoga. Whether you are a complete beginner, or long term practitioner, the principles behind the deepening process are the same. The main emphasis will be on developing freedom and balanced support in posture, as well as finding calm in the breath (some breathing work will be incorporated). And there will be plenty of time to look at specific issues that you may be interested in. There will also be opportunities to explore deep relaxation & meditation techniques, and possibly some voice work if there is interest (I like to chant a little to end sessions - i find it a very effective means of helping people to relax at a very fundamental level).
There will be a daily morning wake up class, a late morning workshop to establish the principles behind the work and the afternoons are free for you to do as you please, including the option of booking additional one to one sessions with me if you would like to work with something specific privately.
All of it is optional so that everyone gets precicely the level of immersion that suits the individual.
